Mallusk-based Henderson Foodservice has been named as one of Ireland’s most successful companies in the Deloitte Best Managed Companies Awards Programme, which recognises excellence in business management and performance.

The company, a division of the Henderson Group, is the market leading Foodservice business in Northern Ireland.

It offers a comprehensive service to the catering industry, providing a vast and varied product offering across ambient, chilled, frozen, non-food, bakery and fresh produce ranges.

The Best Managed Companies Awards Programme was created to recognise the overall success of a company, including management strength, ability to innovate, strategic initiatives and financial performance.

This year’s winning companies were congratulated by Irish Prime Minister, Enda Kenny TD at a gala awards dinner in Dublin on March 7.

Damien Barrett, managing director of Henderson Foodservice, said: “Our company took part in a long and extremely rigorous process to prove it met the standards of excellence required to be awarded with this prestigious title.

“To win is a symbol of organisational success and achievement and we are delighted that this process has recognised Henderson Foodservice as one of Ireland’s most dynamic and innovative companies.”

Henderson Foodservice has seen sales growth of 33 per cent in the last two years and staff numbers have increased by 20 per cent to over 250.

The company has recently added 15 new vehicles to its fleet, meaning that 50 lorries now transport deliveries across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland six days a week.

Investment has also been made in a new warehouse management system to ensure customer service is even more efficient.

Brendan Jennings, Managing Partner of Deloitte and judging panel member, commented: “As the Irish economy continues to strengthen the outlook for the winning companies is extremely positive.

“They have all demonstrated an exceptional ability to innovate and grow and are now excellently positioned to benefit as the outlook for Ireland Inc continues to improve.”
