Local people from the Ballyclare area received useful employment advice and support at a recent event held in the town.

Organised by Ballyclare Community Concerns, in partnership with LEDCOM and supported by Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council, Ballyclare Employability and Enterprise Week included personal development workshops on how to improve employability, finance workshops and one to one business support appointments.

Two of the participants were successful in finding employment, while 11 potential new-start up businesses received one-to-one support.

Hilary Wallace took part in the event. She said: “The training, advice, help and encouragement I received was a big boost to my confidence. The LEDCOM team helped me to identify and secure a local job.”

Jeanette Thornton, one of the Directors of Ballyclare Community Concerns said: “The week provided a focus to reach out with practical support. This will help local people improve their employment prospects and consider new directions such as self-employment.”
