Programme to help businesses increase sales

The second series of the Sales Growth Programme, which aims to assist small-to-medium enterprises improve their sales performance and achieve real turnover growth, has been launched at Mossley Mill.

Nine companies from each of the seven council areas of Newtownabbey; Antrim; Ballymena, Moyle; Coleraine; Larne and Carrickfergus will have the opportunity to participate in the programme.

Speaking on behalf of the participating councils, Newtownabbey mayor Alderman Fraser Agnew said: “Newtownabbey Borough Council is delighted to launch its ‘Sales Growth 2 Programme’ which forms an integral part of the North East area’s Economic Development Strategy.

“The programme focuses on helping local businesses become more competitive and will support a total of 63 SMEs who wish to grow their business and increase their turnover.

“We look forward to seeing how the participating businesses grow and prosper throughout the programme and sustain the growth beyond.”

The programme will be delivered through a series of eight half-day workshops which will provide training in key areas of prospecting and lead generation, face-to-face sales, telephone sales and sales strategy for sustainable growth. The workshops, which will be facilitated by consultants Ingenuity, will take place across the North East council areas.

Participants will also have access to twelve months of business support and mentoring by qualified sales coaches and mentors.

Moira Loughran, Invest NI’s North Eastern regional manager, added: “This programme will improve the sales growth of SMEs across the North East area. It not only supports businesses to adopt good sales strategy and practice, but also encourages collaboration, networking and partnerships amongst the participating businesses. This will ensure that any benefits achieved from the programme are long-term and sustainable.”

The ‘Sales Growth 2 Programme’ is funded by the participating councils and part-financed by Invest Northern Ireland and the European Regional Development Fund under the ‘Sustainable Competitiveness Programme’ for Northern Ireland.
