“What Mummy Did Next was developed for local women who have taken a career break to raise their family and have now reached a stage where they would like to return to the world of work and are considering setting up their own enterprise,” a spokesperson explained. “Leaving the home nest can be a daunting experience for these women so the course was designed specifically to build their individual self-confidence as well as educating them about how to become self-employed.”

The programme ran every Wednesday evening, 6pm to 8.30pm, from May 4 - June 8. One of the sessions took place at Dunamoy Cottages, located just outside Ballyclare, where the participants heard first hand from owners Stacey and Jamie Hamill about what it takes to start up and run a successful small business whilst juggling family commitments at the same time.

Mallusk Enterprise Park has thanked guest speaker Tina McKenzie, Managing Director of Staffline Ireland, for giving up her time to come and speak to the group.

Participants said they had gained “a lot of encouragement and motivation from her inspirational talk.”
