Ben Madigan Care Home residents raised a toast to the opening of their own private bar at the Mill Road facility recently.

Angels’ Cove was officially opened by Mayor Billy Webb on Friday, September 30.

The fully kitted-out bar features beer pumps, optics, authentic glasses and even a disco ball should some of the 64 residents wish to dance the night away.

The bar is designed to serve as a nostalgic reminder of the times that residents may have visited public hostelries and although it does not sell alcohol, residents can bring their own.

Deborah Oktar of the Priory Group which operates the care home said reaction to the new facility had been positive.

She said: “The residents have named the bar, because to them it is an angels’ cove.”
