THE Newtownabbey Business Awards 2012 have celebrated the success and achievements of companies across the borough.

The stunning black tie event, held in Mossley Mill on November 9, was hosted by broadcaster Lynda Bryans.

Local businesses scooped up 13 awards, with categories ranging from Excellence in Customer Service to Best Small Business and Best Business Website.

Mayor Victor Robinson, who attended the gala awards evening said: “The economic problems we have continued to experience this year, often first hand in Newtownabbey, have provided major challenges for businesses and individuals, so it is only right we celebrate the best of business in Newtownabbey.

“We are sure that the sheer industry, imagination and know-how of businesses in the area will ensure a healthy economic future for the borough.”

The Awards were organised by Newtownabbey Borough Council with the support of Full Circle Management Solutions.

The winners on the night were: Excellence in Customer Service, sponsored by First Trust Bank - McCandless Opticians; Best Food Establishment, sponsored by The Big Picture Studio - Bureau by the Lough / Café Cuisine (joint winners); Best New Business Start Up, sponsored by Canyon Europe - Barista Coffee House & Sandwich Bar; Best Small Business, sponsored by Henderson Group - Taylored Workwear; Best Growth Business, sponsored by Invest Northern Ireland - TOT Technical Ltd; Involvement in the Community Award, sponsored by Tesco - Browns Houston & Williamson Funeral Directors; Best Business Service Provider, sponsored by E.A. Davies Insurance - Expeditors International; Embracing Diversity Award, sponsored by CAN Peace III Partnership - Bombardier; Best Business Website, sponsored by Chain Reaction Cycles - Ashers Baking Company; Best Business Premises Award, sponsored by Newtownabbey Borough Council - Canyon Europe Ltd; Best Marketing Initiative, sponsored by Funky Monkeys - Glengormley Chiropractic; Business Person of the Year, sponsored by Full Circle Management Solutions - John Toner, Williams Industrial Services Ltd.
