Chainsaws stolen from pensioner in Ballynure

Police are appealing for information following a burglary in Ballynure yesterday morning (Wednesday).

Detective Constable Chris Campbell said: “The elderly owner of the house returned home shortly after 11am on Wednesday morning and witnessed a male wearing dark clothing and a balaclava run from her house to a small blue car which made off in the direction of the village. The male is described as being approximately 5ft tall and of an athletic build.

“Two chainsaws were stolen from an outhouse at the property. Thankfully the elderly victim was not hurt during the incident.

“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed any suspicious activity in the area on Wednesday morning or anyone with any information about a small blue car seen in the area of the Castletown Road to contact detectives in Larne on 101. Information can also be passed anonymously by the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
