FOUR volunteers from Glengormley Barnardo’s Helpers Group have been thanked by the children’s charity for their long service.

Jeanie Rogers, Head of Fundraising with Barnardo’s NI, attended the group’s meeting in Carnmoney last month to personally thank the women for their years of work for the charity, which between them totals more than a century.

Peggy Marrs was presented with a rose bowl for notching up 40+ years of service, while Betty McDowell (35 years), Renee Alexander (20 years) and Jean McBride (20 years) each received long service certificates.

“Barnardo’s depends on the commitment of volunteers like Peggy Marrs, Elizabeth McDowell, Renee Alexander and Jean McBride to raise the vital funds we need to support children who are less-advantaged,” Jeanie Rogers commented.
