LOCAL nursery school children enjoyed a fun day out at Belfast Zoo recently as part of a children’s project.

The children from St Bernard’s Nursery in Glengormley and Eden Nursery in Mallusk took part in the annual ‘Zoo Days’ scheme organised by the children’s group Early Years.

The children, many of whom were on their first visit to the zoo, got to meet and learn about some of their favourite animals.

Nicola McGinn, leader of St Bernard’s Nursery (pictured inset), said: “The children had a great day out, they got so engaged by the animals and it is a great opportunity for fun and to learn in a practical way.”

Rebecca Wilson, group leader of Eden Day Care Nursery in Mallusk said her charges also had a wonderful day out at the zoo and enjoyed meeting the animals.
