GLENGORMLEY Community Group performed a weekend clean-up of the Glebe Road West and Church Road areas recently.

Around 15 local people, along with Newtownabbey councillors Noreen McClelland, John Blair, Mark Cosgrove and Gerry O’Reilly took part in the morning clean-up on Saturday, August 20.

The group collected over 50 bags of rubbish, including an assortment of household rubbish and fast food litter. They also cleared away overgrown nettles and weeds.

Chair of the Community Group, Martine Andrews said she was delighted with the results.

She said: “It was a really great day, we managed to clear so much and the place is looking well. It looks like the place has been used by people for dumping their litter, so hopefully this will discourage any more dumping.”
