DESPICABLE thieves who stole more than 1,500 litres of heating oil from a local church have been branded “the lowest of the low.”

The thieves struck at Kilbride Presbyterian Church sometime on Sunday night (January 8).

Property Convenor at the Moyra Road church, John Allen, confirmed that around 1,600 litres of oil had been stolen, leaving the church facing a bill in excess of £1,000 to replace the fuel.

“We had about a thousand litres in one tank and 600 in the other. We had locks on the tanks, but they just prised them off,” Mr Allen told the Times.
