Council agrees to car park closure for official opening

THE car park at Gideon’s Green, Whitehouse will be closed to the general public on the afternoon of Thursday, May 10 to accommodate parking for the official opening of the White House Heritage Centre.

At Monday night’s (April 30) council meeting, members were informed that around 100 guests are expected at the event, including the Mayors of Newtownabbey and Drogheda, who will perform the official opening.

Councillors agreed to a request from Alister Bell of the White House Preservation Trust to have the public car park closed off to the general public between 11.30am and 4.30pm in order to accommodate parking for ‘VIP guests’.

It was also agreed that temporary signage should be erected at the site this week in order to inform people about next Thursday’s closure.
