Council attempting to prevent dumping in region

The council is currently working with other agencies in an attempt to prevent illegal dumping following recent incidents in the borough.

A concerned resident raised the issue with the Times after rubbish was dumped illegally in the Queens Park estate.

The resident who wished to remain anonymous said: “This has been ongoing for some time. When clean-ups are organised, rubbish appears soon after in the area.”

Commenting on the issue, a spokesperson for Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council said: “Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council is aware of illegal dumping in the Queens Park area. The council is currently working with Northern Ireland Housing Executive to try and prevent illegal dumping. The council would encourage members of the public who witness illegal dumping to contact Environmental Health on 028 9034 0160 or via email on [email protected]
