Council to apply for more Green Flags

Have your say

After securing Green Flag Awards for the Newtownabbey Way and Mallusk and Kilbride Cemeteries over the past two years, the council’s Leisure Committee has agreed that the local authority should apply to see if more open spaces in the borough can secure Green Flag status.

The Green Flag is the national benchmark for parks and open spaces and is awarded to sites with high environmental standards.

Members at Monday night’s committee meeting agreed to apply for Green Flag Awards in respect of the Newtownabbey Way, Sentry Hill, Lilian Bland Community Park and Mallusk, Kilbride, Ballynure and Rashee Cemeteries.
