Councillors agree park name change

The children’s play park in New Mossley is to be renamed the Prince William Play Area.

Members of Antrim and Newtownabbey Borough Council’s Operations Committee agreed the name change at their meeting on Monday night.

The move follows a consultation exercise, which pointed to overwhelming support for the name change among local residents and elected representatives.

Despite a suggestion from Ald. Billy Ball that Prince George Play Area may be a more popular name, members agreed to the change.

The cost of new signage at the play park is expected to cost around £500.
