THE courageous family of a Glengormley woman who tragically died during childbirth will be appearing on Sky TV show Noel’s Christmas Presents this Sunday (December 18).
Denise Carter suffered a brain haemorrhage during the birth of her daughter, Leah in March 2009, leaving behind husband Steve with their newborn baby and young sons Cameron, Ethan and Aaron.
The family have at times struggled to come to terms with their tragic loss and the devastation it brought to their lives.
Last month, to recognise the children’s courage, the Carters were selected to be the stars of Noel’s Christmas Presents - an annual festive television show which honours those who deserve a special gift.
During assembly at the boys’ primary school - St Mary’s on the Hill - the whole family were surprised by TV presenter Noel Edmonds.
The family were flown to London where staff closed the world-famous Hamley’s toy store and allowed the children free rein to pick their gifts which Santa will deliver for Christmas morning.
And then the family were shocked to hear they were booked onto flights to Florida to visit the Harry Potter theme park and Universal Studios.
And as if first-class travel and five-star hotels were not enough, the family also met Harry Potter star Rupert Grint.
“It was just surprise after surprise,” said Steve. “They really did spoil us tremendously.
