He said: “The staff and pupils of Monkstown Community School were shocked to learn of the death on holiday of one of our pupils, Paul Williams. Paul had just completed Year Nine and was due to move into Year Ten.
“Paul was a well presented, chatty and friendly pupil. He was a popular and lively member of his class who were a very close knit class. His loss will affect a lot of his fellow pupils deeply.
“He played in both the football and rugby teams and was a very good artist. The school extends to all his family our sympathy.”
Thousands of messages have been left on social networking site, Facebook, for the teenager.
One friend wrote: “You were always smiling Paul. It just won’t be the same without you, I will always remember you.”
