Design win for local student

A student from the Newtownabbey campus of Northern Regional College was among the winners of a recent design competition.

James Dalton, who is studying foundation art and design, was third prize winner in the graphic design project.

His creation is featured on the new college calendar for 2013.

Darlene Hagen-Bezgin, curriculum manager, art and design explained: “Each year, students are invited to take part in this project and compete to design the corporate calendar, with the winning artwork placed on the front cover of the calendar.

“At NRC, we continually strive to develop a curriculum which meets the needs of industry, while providing opportunities for our students to get involved in the world of graphic design. working on real projects, which fulfil real economical needs is one way we do this.

“Students gain so much from this project in terms of learning, experience and knowledge regarding the design industry, that it can help them to make clear and concise choices on their future career plans as well as having the added bonus of seeing their design work produced professionally.”
