North Belfast DUP MP Nigel Dodds has expressed concern for the future of two care homes in Newtownabbey run by the troubled Southern Cross Group.
It was announced on Monday, (July 11) that Southern Cross, the UK’s largest care homes operator, is being closed down with the total loss of value to shareholders.
The group operates 752 homes across the United Kingdom, with 25 in Northern Ireland including The Glebe and Dunanney Care Homes at Glebe Road, Newtownabbey. The consequences for these two homes has yet to become clear.
Southern Cross is seeking to transfer ownership of its homes to their landlords, but agreement has yet to be reached with all landlords.
