Local lecturer to present at London medical meeting

A university lecturer from Ballyclare is set to present at a top conference next week.

Dr Jaqueline Maybin from Ballyclare, a Clinical Lecturer in Obstetrics and Gynaecology at the University of Edinburgh, has been short-listed with seven others, to take part in the Research in three competition, during the Winter Science Meeting on November 23 at the Academy Headquarters in Portland Place, London.

Dr Maybin will have three minutes to present her research in front of a specialist audience and a panel of experts.

About her work, she said: “I’m hoping my research on the function of the endometrium (lining of the womb) will help develop new, efficient and acceptable medical treatments for women suffering from heavy periods and reduce the need for surgical interventions and their associated complications.”
