Previously in June they competed in the Regional Final at Kirkistown and, having won three awards and finishing third in the race, qualified for the International Final. During the Rockingham Final the team of eight pupils will compete against schools from all over the world. Last year’s kit car team, who also qualified and competed at the International Final, shared a paddock with two teams from the USA and one from Poland.

Over 130 people attended the fundraising event. The pupils had a number of donated items to raffle and four items for auction. A special mention must be given for the generosity of Chain Reaction Cycles for donating a BMX bike, Hilton for donating a nights bed and breakfast at the Hilton, Belfast and John Harkness for organising a range of items including a £50 Marks and Spencer voucher as well as a £50 Knags voucher for the Glengormley restaurant. The event raised £2,285 which was outstanding and will now facilitate all aspects of the weekend to Rockingham.

The pupils; Wallace Shanks, Lois Sellar, Jay McKenna, Jordan Drummond, Brandon McQuitty, Robyn McConnell and Megan Reid would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone who came along and supported the event as well as everyone who donated raffle prizes.
