Teaching project rolling out locally

Two Newtownabbey schools are to benefit from a new initiative being rolled out by the Northern Ireland Executive that will help 230 teachers who have been unable to find jobs get a two-year teaching post.

Hollybank Primary and Monkstown Community School are included in the Delivering Social Change Signature Project.

The scheme will employ new graduates to work with pupils who are falling behind with numeracy and literacy skills.

East Antrim MP Sammy Wilson described the project as “excellent”.
