ORGANISERS of the Eleventh of July community celebrations held across the borough last Monday, have reported that this year’s events were a great success.

New Mossley Community Group Chairman, Jackie Shaw said the hard work of those involved to organise a family fun event which could be enjoyed by all had paid off in the area.

He said: “The yearly event has become very popular, not only with our own residents, but with that of the wider community.

“Families come along for a great day out and get to enjoy a fun festival atmosphere with face painting, bouncy castles, games, competitions, free food and lots of music.

He continued: “A lot of work goes into this and it’s just so wonderful to see everybody having such a good time.

“We would thank all those who helped make it possible including Newtownabbey Borough Council, the Northern Ireland Housing Executive, the PSNI, Citybeat and the many volunteers within the community who work so hard to make it such a success.”

Successful festivals and fun days were held in several other areas across Newtownabbey over July 11 and 12, including Mossley, Ballyduff, Monkstown, Rathcoole and Ballyclare.
