A NEWTOWNABBEY mum has appealed to officials at the Belfast Health Trust to give her four-year-old son an operation he desperately needs.
Ben Gough, a P1 pupil at Hollybank Primary School, has been suffering with an ingrowing toenail for over six months. The big toe on his left foot has become so badly infected that he now needs an operation to rectify the problem.
His mother, Rachel Gough, contacted the Times this week to highlight her son’s plight after being informed that he may have to suffer his painful problem for up to another year before he gets the surgery he requires.
“He’s had the problem since March and the toenail got infected in May. He’s had six or seven antibiotics since then and none of them have made a difference. He’s in agony,” the Monkstown woman said.
