FINANCE Minister Sammy Wilson was welcomed to Ballyclare on Friday, (January 13), and given an idea of the many challenges facing local traders.

The MLA and MP met with members of Ballyclare Chamber of Trade to hear their views on changes to commercial rates and their concerns for the future.

President of the Chamber of Trade, Darren Black said: “It was very good of the Minister to take time out to come and visit Ballyclare. I hope he has taken away a sense of where Ballyclare is going and what is needed for the future and we will continue to lobby for support from the council and Stormont.”

In December the Executive agreed to the expansion of the Small Business Rate Relief Scheme, which could benefit 70 Ballyclare retailers.

Sammy Wilson said: “I welcome the opportunity to hear the views of Ballyclare traders and the concerns that many have, both here and in other towns across Northern Ireland.”
