A PENSIONER has hit out at the “disgraceful” flying of flags in the borough and said incorrectly hung Union Flags are an “insult to the Queen”.

Robert Crawford contacted the Times after some pictures included in the previous week’s paper and taken at Jubilee events in the borough, showed the flag upside down.

Robert told the Times: “It’s a disgrace and I do not think you should be publishing those pictures.

“The flag needs to be flown with the broad white stripe at the top side next to the pole.

“Over this last while, with the Jubilee and the flags put up on lampposts it has been shocking to see them not correctly displayed - it is an insult to the Queen.”
