A BALLYCLARE pensioner was left shaken after two men entered her home and searched her bedroom while she lay in bed on Tuesday morning (July 3).
The 79-year-old woman was asleep in her Rathmena Gardens home when she noticed a torch light outside her bedroom door at around 1am.
When she called out, two men entered the room. The pair searched the bedroom before moving on to other rooms and making their escape with jewellery and cash.
Police have appealed for information, and they can be contacted on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 111 555.
Ballyclare councillor Pat McCudden expressed his anger at this latest burglary.
He said: “I utterly condemn this act and I am angry this has happened.
“A couple of weeks ago the Alliance Newtownabbey councillors along with Justice Minister David Ford met with the local Sergeant Alan Bowes and Area Commander Stephen Reid.
“We highlighted to them that there had been a recent spate of burglaries in the area, particularly Rathmena.
“I am upset this has happened again and would urge the police to step up their patrols in the area to stop this happening again.”
