MEMBERS of the Glengormley Fundraising Support Group of Northern Ireland Chest Heart & Stroke have raised a staggering £266,081 in support of the work of the local health charity over the past 27 years.
The group, which was founded in 1986, has used a variety of different fundraising events to raise money for NI Chest Heart and Stroke’s work in the local area.
David Magill, chairman of the group, said: “It’s great to know you are supporting a local Northern Ireland charity and the Glengormley Fundraising Support Group thank everyone who has generously supported our fundraising events. We’re your local charity for the care and prevention of chest, heart and stroke illnesses.”
The group’s most recent event was a sponsored ten-pin bowling evening, which involved some healthy competition as well as raising money for a healthy cause. Other events have included a Hearty Lunch, fashion shows and the local indoor bowling leagues are also very loyal supporters.
Linda Culbert, treasurer of the group and keen indoor bowler said: “I would like to thank the group members for all their fundraising efforts. The money raised has been used to support services of the charity in the area, such as cardiac services, stroke and respiratory groups as well as the stroke family liaison team who help local families to live with life after a stroke.”
