A CAROL singing night in Glengormley was hailed as a fantastic success by organisers.

Hundreds of people, including many school children, descended on Glengormley on Friday, December 7.

They gathered around the town’s Christmas tree before walking in a procession to Lilian Bland Community Park for carol singing, readings and hot mince pies and a cup of tea.

Brian Mullan from the Greater Glengormley Community Churches forum said: “There was a fantastic turn out and a great spirit shown by all who were there.

“The weather stayed favourable and the atmosphere was incredible and it proved a great way to celebrate Christmas.”

Brian also thanked funders Newtownabbey Borough Council, through its Good Relations Programme and the Peace III building bridges in communities programme as well as sponsors, the Thunderdome, Spar and Tesco.

He added: “We would like to thank all, including the carols singers, churches and schools for their support and for everyone’s participation to make it the night a success.”
