A GROUP of young people from the Glengormley-based 50/50 Project headed to Scotland recently for a fun day out.

The group of 32 bleary-eyed teenagers set off for the ferry at 5.30am on Wednesday, July 18.

In Scotland they travelled to the M&D’s theme park in Ayr where they all enjoyed a great day.

Sharon McTaggart from the 50/50 Project said: “We organised this because all the kids have made great progress over the past months developing friendships and learning to respect each other.

“We had a fantastic day in Scotland and everyone behaved themselves, despite the long day and we had a great time at the theme park.”

Sharon also thanked the South and East Antrim Community Federation for funding the trip.

The cross-community 50/50 Project was set up earlier this year to provide young people in Glengormley with a meeting place in a bid to halt the sectarian trouble which had dogged the town over recent years.
