GLENGORMLEY traders have called on the government to establish an emergency task force to address the immediate problems facing businesses in the village.

Social Development Minister Nelson McCausland met with the Glengormley Traders’ Association incorporating the Glengormley Chamber of Commerce, elected representatives and the police at a meeting in the Thunderdome Cafe last week.

Chairman of the association, Ed Burns, outlined a bleak picture of the future of Glengormley if work was not started immediately to revive the ailing centre.

He said: “There is work proposed for new parking bays and a one-way system and of-course the public realm scheme but we need the changes now.”
