A Glengormley woman’s dream of becoming a Mills and Boon author has come true.

Karin Baine has just secured a two-book contract with the publisher of romantic novels.

Initially, Karin had submitted a manuscript for a recent competition and online vote.

Despite not being the overall winner, she was thrilled to receive a phone call telling her that she was still in with the chance of securing a book deal.

Her medical romance “Belfast Belle” is due for publication in 2016.

A second novel, based on the same medical theme, “Behind the Screen” has also been commissioned.

With some revisions to make, Karin said that she has been told to forward a manuscript every six months.

“I was runner-up in the competition. They called me to discuss revisions but I had no idea they were going to offer me a contract,” said Karin.

“There were over 500 entries. It was an international competition. The winner was from County Kildare.

“It is amazing that we are both from the same part of the world.

“They asked me what name I was going to write under but I will just stick with my own name.

“I always wanted to see my own name on a book cover.”
