The council’s Development Committee has agreed to contribute £6,000 of match funding to help provide a Good Relations programme for young people from Monkstown and Rathcoole.

The £14,000 project, being run in association with the Northern Ireland Youth Forum, is designed to reach out to young people currently detached from local youth provision.

It will engage 40 young people aged between 13-18 years old in a 20 week programme of good relations, including a weekend residential.

The programme will help them explore issues such as prejudice, intolerance, racism and sectarianism.
