PLANNING Service has recommended approval for a new 60-unit housing development in the Ballycorr Road area of Ballyclare.
At their monthly Planning and Consultation Committee meeting on March 12, councillors were informed that there have been no objections to the scheme on lands west of 91 Ballycorr Road and north east of Ballycorr Gardens.
The application is for the construction of a mixed development, comprising detached and semi-detached houses and townhouses with associated landscaping.
Alderman Paul Girvan said that some residents of Ballycorr Road have already raised concerns about traffic problems and road safety issues, and asked if it was suitable to approve a scheme which could potentially bring another 90 cars into the area.
He was assured by the Planning Officer that Roads Service is satisfied with the details of the application.
