NEWTOWNABBEY councillor Thomas Hogg has called for a new bus shelter to be installed on the Prince Charles Way to protect schoolchildren from the bad weather.

The Macedon representative has called for the Roads Service to provide the shelter at the bus stop close to the Carnmoney Road.

He said: “This bus stop is used as the designated pickup point for children attending schools in Ballyclare.

“It is the only stop on this stretch of road which does not have a shelter.

“I have been contacted by local parents living in the Brackens and Carnmoney areas whose children have to wait at the bus stop.

“They are understandably concerned that their children have to wait on the bus exposed to the often inclement weather.

“I raised the matter with the Roads Service, but was disappointed that it was unwilling to commit to providing a shelter in the near future.”
