Three friends from the Ulster Transport Bowling Club in Jordanstown have helped raise more than £2,600 for the NI Children’s Hospice.

Norman Davis, Andy Morrow and Stevie Whan all celebrated their 60th birthdays in August. But instead of having a party where people would have to get them presents, they decided to ask for donations for the charity instead.

Andy explained how after starting a JustGiving page and aiming for £500, they had an enjoyable night at the club and were completely bowled over by people’s generosity.

“We supplied music and supper, and our friends and club members supplied the money and the craic. It was a brilliant night, and we were able to raise £2,630 for the worthy cause,” Andy said.

The Bowling Club supported the charity event by donating proceeds from the ballot, prizes for which were generously donated.

The three men have thanked everyone who took part in the fundraiser and are encouraging others to hold similar events to raise funds for other local charities.
