'All children who dressed up deserved a medal'

I WOULD like to say this year the council did a great job with the free entertainment on the Saturday of the fair, especially the bouncy castles and music playing which was available in the park.

Unfortunately the Fancy Dress was not so well managed. Only seven children entered and there were only four prizes which meant three children were left out.

How could someone be expected to pick between two four-year-olds who had walked together during the parade?

Had 100 children turned up, then the majority would have left with nothing. That's fine, but to leave only three children with nothing is unfair.

When I spoke to the Mayor all he could say was that they had no idea how many would turn up. After last year's parade I am sure they had some idea it wouldn't be popular and therefore should have planned for that event.

No prizes at all would be better than disappointed children, angry parents and frustrated committee members.

As for the badges, they were dull, boring, dangerous and unappreciated.

All children who made the effort to dress up deserved a medal. I was told that the leftover medals from the Pet Show had been given to an animal sanctuary - these could have been held on to until after the fair, and then donated
