'Stroll in Sandyknowes Park should not have to come with a health warning'
ON SATURDAY morning last I took my granddaughter to the playground in nearby Sandyknowes Park, only to find the facility and much of the pathway and grass once again littered with broken glass, empty beer bottles etc on a seriously grand scale.
Like many local people, I am very annoyed and concerned that the park has been taken over at night by gangs of youths hellbent on getting drunk, making a mess and generally creating a nuisance.
They have no regard whatsoever for the danger they are putting our children in from broken glass, not to mention other regular users who walk their dogs or exercise in the park.
As the summer nights approach it is important that this area is open for business to the majority of people who use it properly, and that it does not become a regular hangout for underage drinkers and empty heads whose only mindset seems to be 'get smashed and smash the place up.'
A stroll in Sandyknowes Park should not have to come with a health warning.
