'Time the council cleaned up its act'

NEWTOWNABBEY Borough Council prides itself on keeping the areas within its jurisdiction looking beautiful. No expense is spared on plants and labour costs.

If the public could only see the inside of the sports pavilion in Mossley, perhaps the council would be seen in a different light.

I visited the Bowling Green on May 25 to support a Mossley rink playing against a rink from Shaftsbury club in the ladies private greens bowling championships.

I wonder what the visitors thought of the filthy floor in the room where tea was served.

I'm told that only six hours per week (2 hours x 3 days) is allocated for cleaning.

This is certainly not sufficient for the size of the building.

Surely the council could spare a further four hours per week to keep all areas clean and tidy.

I trust slave labour is not the policy of Newtownabbey Borough Council.

Yours sincerely,

Mrs M. E. Burns, The Glade, Mossley
