Local authority shortlisted for government awards

NEWTOWNABBEY Borough Council has been shortlisted for the finals of the Local Government Awards Northern Ireland.

The annual awards, sponsored by Asda, are designed to showcase the best examples of service provision, new initiatives and personal commitment from councils, councillors and officers across local government in Northern Ireland.

Newtownabbey Council has been named among the finalists in the ‘Best Initiative by a Councillor / Councillors’ category - councillor Billy Webb, councillor Robert Hill and alderman Billy DeCourcy for the Youth Zone project.

The Human Resources Team at Mossley Mill has been shortlisted for the Human Resource Services Award.

Eighteen of Northern Ireland’s 26 local councils submitted entries for this year’s Local Government Awards.

The overall winners will be announced at a gala dinner during the Northern Ireland Local Government Association annual conference on February 28 in the Everglades Hotel, Londonderry.
