The council’s Planning and Consultation Committee has approved a request from the Territorial Army for the use of Mossley Mill for a Clinical Study Day on August 9.
The event, which will be hosted by 204 Field Hospital, will discuss how medical practices have been developed and improved as a result of recent conflict, focussing particularly on the area of trauma medicine.
Guests will include the Health Minister, Chief Medical Officer and leading healthcare professionals.
The keynote speaker will be Professor Sir Keith Porter - the UK’s only Professor of Clinical Traumatology.
Councillors agreed that facility hire charges for the event, thought to be in excess of £350, should be waived.
