Mayor Thomas Hogg will be fundraising for three local charities throughout his term in office.

The Macedon representative will hold a series of fundraising events in support of Alzheimer’s Society, NI Hospice and Sandes between now and the end of March 2015.

Speaking about his chosen charities, he commented: “I have great appreciation for each of these particular charities and I fully admire and respect the work they do and the contributions they make to society. A variety of fundraising activities and events will be organised throughout my Mayoral term and I know the people of Newtownabbey will be as generous as ever in their support.”

Alzheimer’s Society is the leading dementia charity working in Northern Ireland. It provides services and support to people with dementia and provides endless research to find the cause, cure and best care for the future.

NI Hospice is a local charity providing free specialist palliative care for over 3,000 children, young people and adults who have a life-limiting or terminal illness while also providing support for their families.

The Sandes charity is a Christian outreach to provide friendship and welfare facilities to members of HM Armed Forces. The charity, which was founded in 1869, runs centres on military bases for personnel and their families.
