South Antrim MP William McCrea has confirmed that the Environment Minister has agreed to receive a cross-party delegation to discuss the arc21 planning application for an Energy from Waste plant at Hightown Quarry.
Dr McCrea requested the opportunity to lead a delegation to meet Mark H Durkan following widespread community concern over the nature and scale of the proposed waste treatment facility.
“I am delighted to be in receipt of correspondence from the Minister indicating his willingness to meet with locally elected representatives.
“I am currently liaising with the Minister’s office and hope to secure a suitable date shortly,” the DUP man commented.
“It is clear that this is an issue that has generated strong interest and indeed concern both locally and beyond, and I feel that it is only appropriate that the voice of the community is heard at the highest possible level.”
