Anger over Rathcoole fly-tipping
Rubbish dumped on the Old Irish Highway and O'Neill Road. INNT 05-049-FP
A RATHCOOLE woman has hit out at “lazy locals” for using the estate as a dumping ground.
The woman, who has lived in the estate all her life, has said she feels “ashamed” at the amount of rubbish dumped and would “love to move out” of the area if she could.
She contacted the Times after bags of rubbish, rubble and even a lawnmower were dumped at the Old Irish Highway entrance to the estate.
She said: “There are people living in Rathcoole who are doing all they can to make it a welcoming place and then there are others who wouldn’t think twice about dumping their rubbish at their backsides.
“The entrances to the estate do look really well now with the new sculptures but at the Old Irish Highway it has been forgotten about and people - no doubt those living in the estate - use it for fly-tipping.
“It makes me ashamed to see this happening and I really would love to get out of the estate if I could because of it - it makes me so angry that people are so lazy.”
