Blair takes reins of Policing Forum

FORMER Newtownabbey councillor John Blair has been elected Chair of the Antrim Line Policing Forum.

Other office bearers elected at the group’s recent AGM were Patricia Martin (Vice Chair), Martine Andrews (Secretary) and Michael Martin (Treasurer).

The Forum, which has been in existence for seven years, liaises with the PSNI and local District Policing Partnership on issues specific to the Antrim Line District Electoral Area.

Mr Blair, who is also an independent member of the DPP, commented: “The Antrim Line Forum has worked constructively with local police since its inception in 2003. The Forum remains grateful for the efforts of the Neighbourhood Policing Teams in their ongoing work across the Antrim Line area, particularly the time they have dedicated to anti-social behaviour and associated problems. The Forum will continue to raise issues with police and assist, where possible, in overcoming problems.”

He added: “The Policing Form provides an excellent opportunity for residents and ratepayers to discuss their concerns with police. As Chair in the incoming year I hope also to attract input from those areas not currently represented at Forum meetings and also from the local business community so that a broader spectrum of people can work together for the good of the area. Anyone who may be willing to participate is welcome to contact me on 9086 9686 for details of meetings and events.”
