Concerns over anti-social yobs raised with policing watchdog

THE Manager of Newtownabbey District Policing Partnership has confirmed that he has received a number of calls from angry residents complaining about the ongoing trouble being caused by anti-social youths in areas of Carnmoney.

Following the publication of last week's article in the Times about the serious problems being faced by residents in Carnhill, Carnvue, The Cairn and other nearby areas, DPP Manager Campbell Dixon revealed that his office has received calls from several disgruntled residents demanding tougher police action against the youths who are terrorising local householders.

"We have received further calls to the office complaining about the level of anti-social behaviour in Carnmoney and in particular the Carnhill area. There is a feeling of helplessness and a desire for much firmer police action and more police patrols," he said.

One Carnhill Park resident who called the Times after reading last week's article claimed that many local residents have lost faith in the police.
