NORTH Belfast MP Nigel Dodds is urging local people to take advantage of the free European Heritage Open Days this weekend (September 11 & 12).

The annual event, organised by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency, is designed to encourage people to discover Northern Ireland’s rich and diverse architecture and heritage by offering free entry to many historic and interesting buildings.

“I am pleased to note that a number of buildings in North Belfast and Newtownabbey will be throwing open their doors to the public for the weekend free of charge, along with many properties throughout Northern Ireland.

“Prominent buildings opening in North Belfast include Belfast Castle, Clifton House and Graymount House. In Newtownabbey venues opening include Carnmoney Parish Church, St John’s Church of Ireland and Sentry Hill farmstead,” the DUP man explained.
