FM Club issues invite to new members
THE First Monday Club (FM Club) at Abbots Cross Presbyterian Church is on the look-out for new members.
Founded three years ago, the club meets on the first Monday of each month in the church hall on the Doagh Road.
"The aim of the group is to provide an opportunity for adults with a learning disability to come together and learn more about God in a way that they can understand. It's also about having fun and making friends," explained Grace Nesbitt, one of the leaders of the club.
"Each month, usually through a video and short talk, we learn a bit more about God - for example, the miracles of Jesus - we have bit of singing and worship time, and do something practical like making cards or craft work. And of course we also have a chat over some refreshments," she added.
Throughout the year members of the FM Club enjoy a number of outings, including going ten pin bowling, attending the theatre and their annual Christmas dinner.
The club is affiliated to Prospects - a UK charity which supports people with learning disabilities to live in the community through supported living schemes and day opportunities.
Prospects encourages churches to be more inclusive and helps to make the Christian faith more accessible.
The FM Club is open to new members, and parents/carers are welcome to stay and join in the fun if they wish.
