Glengormley care home plan put on hold
PLANNING Service has deferred making a final decision on an application for a residential care home development at the junction of Church Road and Glebe Road East in Glengormley.
Despite considerable opposition to the plan from local residents, planners were due to recommended approval of the scheme this week. However, at their monthly Planning Committee meeting on Monday night, members of Newtownabbey Council were successful in having a decision on the controversial plan deferred for one month.
UUP councillor Janet Crilly stressed that there had been more than 170 objections from local householders who had raised serious concerns about the sheer scale of the development in a residential area, its design and issues about road safety.
