NEWTOWNABBEY couple Lynn Barnett and Derek Chambers tied the knot at Belfast City Hall on Good Friday, April 6.

And after celebrating their nuptials in the new Titanic Belfast building, the happily married couple from Rush Park, who are both “fanatical Titanic enthusiasts”, flew to England where they joined a Titanic memorial cruise that set sail for Southampton on Sunday.

The self confessed ‘Titanoraks’ boarded the ship Balmoral on Easter Sunday, April 8, to take them on a very sentimental journey for their honeymoon.

The ship stopped at Cobh en-route before sailing on to Nova Scotia and then to what had been the Titanic’s intended destination - New York.

The Balmoral will stop at the very spot where the iconic luxury liner sank, for a memorial service at the exact time, 2.20am on the morning of the April 15, exactly a century ago when tragedy struck the vessel.

“This will be the most emotional part of the trip and as a mark of respect for the 1,500 souls who lost their lives I will be casting my wedding bouquet over the side of the ship,” said Lynn.
